As a 13-year-old growing up in Sydney Harbor, fever dreams of landing my first kingfish often sat me bolt upright in bed an hour before my 4 AM alarm clock rang. If you’re a fellow ‘fisho’ (Australian slang for anyone passionate about fishing) — you already know that feeling.

It’s what motivates a kid from the Bronx to learn fly-casting in Central Park. It’s the thrill of a millionaire playboy gambling in Neptune’s saltwater casino. It's the guilt of eating at a gas station after catching nothing, but who cares, because God is a rod and magnificent even when not benevolent.

The grand vision for FISHO is a magazine that celebrates the dizzying diversity of fishing lifestyles - which includes 50 million recreational fishos in the US alone.

After 15 years as a Creative Director working for brands including Instagram, Airbnb, Nike and Adidas, I’m back to being that kid on the Sydney Harbor dock and tapping into that electrifying line of what I do best — capturing stories of the everyday extraordinary.

Community storytelling and reportage are my forte and I’m keen to cook-up some amazing new projects in the outdoor space, or with adventurous brands.

FISHO issue 01: ‘Northwest Nirvana’ is a limited edition print run of 100 copies.

Copies are currently not available for sale, but are as  limited edition gifts in exchange for community participation. Contributors featured in photo-essays receive a free shipped copy in return for sharing their stories.

The other way to get your hands on a copy is by a trading fishing related goods which add to the FISHO basement gallery and circle back as community storytelling in the future. Box of vintage flies? Dope t-shirt? Bumper Stickers? Invitation to fish bonefish in the Florida Keys? If it fits the FISHO flavor, I’ll send some FISHO flying:-)

I look forward to our future adventures.
